One of the very few things that the Ohio State football program has yet to do is win a recruiting national championship. They have yet to have the best recruiting class in the country for a single class. That doesn't mean that they haven't come close.
Their best recruiting class in history was the 2021 class. That class had J.T. Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer, and TreVeyon Henderson in it. All were five-star recruits. The Buckeyes also had Quinn Ewers in that class, who was the number-one overall recruit.
While that was the best chance the Ohio State Buckeyes have had to land the top recruiting class in the country, they have another shot this season. Right now, they have the third-best recruiting class in the country, but they only have 13 commitments in the class.
The Ohio State football program could win its first recruiting national championship this year
Even though the Buckeyes have just 13 recruits so far for this class, they have the most five-star recruits of any program in the country. They are also hunting for a few more, so they could add some more big-time recruits, which could lead them to win the recruiting title.
Felix Ojo is their top priority right now. The five-star tackle is still considering Ohio State, and he would give them their first five-star offensive line commitment since Paris Johnson Jr. He's not the only five-star recruit the Buckeyes have their eyes on, though.
Savion Hiter, the number-one running back in the 2026 class, is also someone the Buckeyes are watching. They are trying to keep their running back room strong, and bringing him in would be the first five-star running back recruit since TreVeyon Henderson.
There's a lot of opportunity for the Buckeyes to improve on their recruiting class. It's going to be a big summer for them as they try to do so.
