The Ohio State football team is expecting to compete for another national championship after winning it in 2024. Despite losing 15 starters from last year's team, they still have the best player in college football, as well as the best defensive player in college football.

Ryan Day knows what his team is capable of, and he fully expects them to compete for a national championship. He wants his team to attack each game like it's the last one of the season. That's how they are going to maintain their edge against a relatively tough schedule.

Day isn't the only coach in college football who believes the Ohio State Buckeyes are good enough to win it all again. In the first Coaches Poll of the season, the Buckeyes are ranked second in the country, only behind Texas. That means the first game of the season will see the top two teams face off against each other.

Ohio State leads the way when it comes to Big Ten teams in the first Coaches Poll of the season. Two other Big Ten teams are in the top 10, with Penn State slotted third and Oregon seventh. Illinois is 12th, Michigan is 14th, and Indiana is the final Big Ten team in the poll at 19th.

The Buckeyes deserve to be the highest-rated team in the Big Ten based on who they have returning. They are one of the most talented teams in the country, even with a new starting quarterback throwing the ball to Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Inniss.

Based on the Coaches Poll, the Buckeyes will be facing four teams in the preseason top 25. Ohio State's toughest game, based on the poll, is the game against Texas. The Longhorns are looking to get some revenge for what happened in the Cotton Bowl.

The Buckeyes are fully expecting to win all of the games on their schedule, despite how highly each of those foes is ranked on their schedule. They can still lose two of them and make the CFP, though.
