Before every season starts, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and FOX Sports releases his Freaks List. That list is a compilation of the freakiest guys in college football. The Ohio State football team usually has at least one player on that list because of the type of talent they have every year.
With the Buckeyes being the defending national champions, they have plenty of really good players on the team. Not all of them are freaky athletes, but Feldman does have two Ohio State Buckeyes on his list this season, including the player who most consider the best player in college football.
Ohio State football player Jeremiah Smith tops Freaks List, Sonny Styles also appears
Jeremiah Smith is the player who tops the Freaks List. It's hard to argue against that when you look at his body and the skills that he is able to show. He makes catches that no one else can, even during practice. Smith's combination of size and speed makes it impossible to cover him one-on-one.
Smith is the biggest freak in college football, but he's not the only Buckeye to make an appearance on the list. Sonny Styles is also on the list, coming in at 10. Styles is so athletic that he was able to move from safety to linebacker. Styles certainly falls into the category of a freak.
Styles can squat 675 pounds and run at 23.5 mph, which is an incredibly rare blend of strength and speed. That's part of the reason why the Buckeyes decided to move him to linebacker. He's only going to be better next year with it being his second full year playing linebacker.
Both of these players are a big reason why the Buckeyes continue to be one of the favorites to win the national championship. They continue to do a great job of putting their players in a position to succeed. Smith and Styles are going to have great seasons in 2025.
With a really good year, Styles could end up being a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Smith has already established himself as a top-five pick once the 2027 Draft rolls around.
