The Ohio State football program has already lost two offensive linemen to the transfer portal. Miles Walker left the Buckeyes for Boise State while Zen Michalski transferred to Indiana. Ohio State has been able to get a couple of offensive linemen to help offset those losses, though.
Right now, the Buckeyes' top priority is winning the Cotton Bowl. Doing so will give them a chance to play for a national championship. They will worry about players who leave in the transfer portal once their season is over. It sounds like they could lose a few more players.
The Ohio State Buckeyes who do decide to leave the program will have five days once the season is over to enter the portal. The portal has already closed for most teams, but CFP teams will get a longer period. Based on a report, the Buckeyes could lose another offensive lineman to the portal.
Ohio State football player George Fitzpatrick to reportedly enter the transfer portal
Based on a report from Chris Hummer of 247Sports, George Fitzpatrick is expected to enter the transfer portal. Fitzpatrick is a redshirt sophomore, so he will have two more years of eligibility remaining if he does decide to enter the transfer portal.
Fitzpatrick is a former four-star recruit from the 2022 class. He just hasn't developed the way that the Buckeyes were hoping he would. He was not in line to start next year with the additions of both Phillip Daniels from Minnesota and Ethan Onianwa from Rice.
The Buckeyes might need to look around at more offensive lineman options if Fitzpatrick does decide to leave. Fitzpatrick might have a chance to compete for playing time at another Power 4 program, depending on who it is. He still has some talent.
We wish Fitzpatrick the best wherever he decides to continue his college football journey.
