The Ohio State football team has had a few players enter the transfer portal since the regular season ended. Some of them have found new homes already, while others are still looking. A couple of Buckeyes have even decided to stay with the team throughout their CFP run before leaving.
That run could extend a while after the Ohio State Buckeyes dumped Oregon in the Rose Bowl 41-21. Winning that game leaves them just one game away from playing for a national championship. If that were the case, other players wouldn't declare for the portal until January 21st.
One player who already made the decision to enter the transfer portal is offensive lineman Zen Michalski. Michalski started one game for the Buckeyes this season before getting hurt. Michalski has decided on a new home, and it's not that far away from Columbus.
Former Ohio State football player Zen Michalski transfers to Indiana
The former Buckeye left tackle has decided to transfer to another Big Ten program that made the College Football Playoff. That program is Indiana. Michalski has just one more season of eligibility left, so he needs to make it count. He thinks he can do that in Bloomington.
Even if Michalski would not have gotten hurt in the Nebraska game, he would not have started again for the Buckeyes. Quite frankly, he wasn't very good. That doesn't mean he can't improve in the offseason and make an impact for the Hoosiers next season.
I would be very surprised if he ended up being a starter for Indiana next season. They do lose a ton of guys, but I can't imagine him being the right tackle. Carter Smith is already entrenched on the other side for Indiana. Michalski can provide some depth as a senior, though.
Michalski will not have to play against his old team in his final season of college football, as the Hoosiers avoid the Buckeyes next year.
