The Ohio State football program was able to get some world-class quarterback play from Julian Sayin this season. His regular season was so good that he was a Finalist for the Heisman Trophy. While he was disrespected in the final vote, the Buckeyes still feel great about his play moving forward.

Coming into this season, the Ohio State Buckeyes were unsure about what kind of play they were going to get from the freshman quarterback. He doesn't have a veteran behind him on the depth chart, as Lincoln Kienholz is the only one who has started a game.

If the Buckeyes want to make sure that Sayin is protected heading into next season, they should consider adding a veteran quarterback to back him up. One QB who decided to enter the portal would be the perfect backup for him, if he's okay with no longer being a starter.

The Ohio State football team should try to target Aidan Chiles in the Transfer Portal

Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles has decided to enter the Transfer Portal once the window opens. Chiles played at Oregon State and followed Jonathan Smith to Michigan State. With Pat Fitzgerald taking over as the new head coach, Chiles will play elsewhere.

Chiles would be the perfect fit for the Buckeyes to back up Sayin. He's someone who has significant experience in the Big Ten, is mobile, and can still win games if he has to come in and play. The only issue is whether or not Chiles would consider taking a backup role.

This season, Chiles missed multiple games with injuries. His style of play lends itself to more injuries than the way some other quarterbacks play. If he decides that he wants to win instead of putting up stats, Ohio State would be the place for him to be. Unfortunately, that might be a pipe dream.

The Buckeyes might have a tough time convincing Chiles to take a step back in his role. That's what makes him such a good fit.
