The Ohio State football program signed most of its 2026 recruiting class a couple of weeks ago. Most of their recruits signed during the early signing period, which has become much more robust over the last few years. Ohio State signed the worst-rated class since Ryan Day's first season.

Despite that lower overall rating, the Buckeyes were able to sign the top-rated recruit on their board after some tense moments. One recruit that the Ohio State Buckeyes weren't able to add is Legend Bey. Bey was being recruited to Ohio State as a running back.

Despite the fact that he was committed to the Buckeyes, Bey ended up signing with Tennessee. His family reportedly had a large influence on that decision. Now, it looks like the Volunteers are going to let him out of his Letter of Intent so that he can join Ohio State this winter.

Even if Tennessee had decided not to release him, Bey could have transferred to Ohio State when the Transfer Portal opens in a few weeks. It seems that the Vols don't want a player who doesn't want to be there, so they are going to let him go without too many issues, according to Rivals.

The Buckeyes need some depth at the running back position, so adding him to the class is solid. Of course, nothing is official as of this moment. Even so, it seems pretty clear that this is where things are heading with his recruitment as he starts his collegiate career.

It's a shame that things had to get ugly with him and his family, but this is clearly what Bey wants to do. Bey will join 27 other recruits from this class, and he is looking to make an impact in the next couple of seasons. It's unlikely he will play much as a freshman once he gets on campus.
