Heading into Thursday night, Felix Ojo was down to two programs for his collegiate decision. While he also had Washington and Michigan on his list, he was really supposed to be down to the Ohio State football program and Texas. That's how it's been for the last few weeks.
For a while, Ojo has been projected to head to Texas and be a Longhorn. Ohio State is still hoping that they can get him, but he has been favored to end up in Austin. Ojo is making his decision later today, but his collegiate prediction to a wild turn on Thursday night.
On the eve of his decision date, Ojo was given a crystal ball prediction by Rivals to head to Texas Tech, a school that he didn't even have in his final four. Now, there is chaos just hours before Ojo is supposed to make his decision on where he will play his college football.
Five-star Ohio State football target Felix Ojo might just be chasing NIL money
If Ojo does indeed end up in Lubbock, then it's abundantly clear that Texas Tech dropped a bag of NIL money in front of his family right before he made his choice. It's also clear that Ojo is only serious about chasing money as opposed to going to a program that suits him.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have made it very clear that they will not chase prospects when it comes to NIL money. That will not be the top priority for kids that they bring in. Of course, they will pay recruits NIL money, but they won't pay them exorbitant amounts of money like other programs will.
At this point, it's still unclear where Ojo will wind up. No matter how you slice it, it seems that Ojo is more likely to stay in his home state of Texas than it is for him to end up playing for the Buckeyes. If that is the case, then so be it. Ryan Day will not throw bags of money at recruits just to get them to play a couple of years in Columbus.
