The Ohio State football program hasn't had a solid recruiting day in quite a while. They haven't been able to stack up a day with multiple wins for the 2026 recruiting class. Friday could be a day that turns some things around. It could end up being a very good day on the recruiting trail.
Two recruits are making some big announcements on the Fourth of July. One of them is three-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez. He is expected to announce that he his flipping his commitment from Florida to the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is a Cleveland kid, after all.
While that would be big news, it could just be the cherry on top because there is an even bigger announcement happening on that day. Friday is also the day that five-star tackle Felix Ojo is making his commitment decision. He will be choosing between Ohio State and Texas.
The Ohio State football team could get two fantastic commitments on Friday
Ojo would be the prize of the 2026 recruiting for the Buckeyes if they can get him. Unfortunately, Ojo is a Texas lean. He has been favored to commit to Texas for a while. The Buckeyes have reportedly been very competitive when it comes to NIL compensation with Ojo, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Ryan Day and his staff have one more day to convince Ojo and his family that Columbus is the right place to be. Perez seems like a done deal, so adding Ojo would be an amazing way for the Buckeyes to celebrate the holiday. It would be the biggest commitment they've gotten on that day since J.T. Tuimoloau back in 2021.
At least Perez should make the Buckeyes happy on Friday. Ojo has a chance to make them ecstatic, though. Ohio State football fans are hoping for a miracle on that front.
