Ohio State football QB commit Brady Edmunds ready to help Ryan Day land 5-star OT

As great as Ryan Day and his Ohio State football coaches have been on the recruiting trail, it always helps when current and future players play a part in things too. That's exactly what's going on for the 2027 class, as quarterback commit Brady Edmunds is working overtime in trying to help build things out.

Edmunds has been in consistent contact with wide receiver pledge Jamier Brown, who is taking a visit to Notre Dame this weekend. At the same time, he's got another 5-star talent on his radar. Yup, that'd be offensive tackle Mark Matthews, who has seen his offers list explode in recent months.

The 6-6, 300-pounder is up to 29 offers and just about every powerhouse in the country wants to get him on campus as soon as possible for a visit. The list includes Ohio State, the reigning national champs and the current No. 1 team in the country.

Edmunds has been committed to the Buckeyes since December 2024 and he isn't wavering at all with his decision. Edmunds, out of California, is ranked the No. 10 quarterback for the 2027 cycle and the No. 11 player overall from the Golden State.

As for Matthews, he's the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 3 playmaker in the country for '27. Both high school juniors have incredible futures ahead of him. We already know that Edmunds is going to be Columbus-bound for his college career, but will Matthews end up joining him on campus?

Similarly, Ohio State is also pushing to land 5-star running back Kemon Spell, who is the No. 1 RB in the land. Could you imagine a scenario where Edmunds, Spell AND Matthews all suit up for the Ohio State offense in the future? Yeah, it's something Day is not only thinking about too, but he's also going to put in plenty of work to make that happen as well.
