The Ohio State football program has picked up some momentum on the recruiting trail. While they haven't landed a ton of commitments in recent days, they are predicted to pick up several recruits. That includes a five-star defensive lineman from the state of California.
It seems that the Buckeyes are poised to add some really good recruits over the next week or so. They will have several recruits on campus in the final weekend of the month, which should result in some commitments. That weekend could end up being the most important recruiting weekend of the year.
A few days ago, we told you about a recruit who had de-committed from Indiana. Four-star cornerback recruit Monsanna Torbert decided to rescind his commitment from the defending national champions, and Ohio State is now predicted to steal him from the Hoosiers.
Ohio State football team is predicted to steal a four-star cornerback recruit
According to On3, the Ohio State Buckeyes are now predicted to land a commitment from Torbert. He is someone who plays both ways in high school right now, as he is also a quarterback. At the next level, he is projected to be a cornerback, and that's where Ohio State wants him.
Adding Torbert will help Ohio State's 2027 recruiting class, which currently only has one player in the secondary for that class. That is a safety, so they don't currently have any corners for this class. Bringing in Torbert would give them one that they feel comfortable with for years to come.
Torbert is listed as the sixth-best cornerback in the state of Ohio. He is from Cincinnati and plays his ball at Princeton High School. Ryan Day likes to keep the best high school players from the state of Ohio in the state, and Torbert qualifies as one of those players.
Ohio State could add several recruits by the end of June
As mentioned, the end of May is an incredible opportunity for the Buckeyes. They could add at least five recruits on that weekend alone. By the end of June, they could have 10 more commits in this class if things go well for them. That is something they are going to try their hardest to have happen.
Right now, Ohio State is lacking in the recruiting department when it comes to the best teams around the country. Of course, it's very early in the class still. The Buckeyes would rather have momentum at the end of the recruiting cycle than early in the cycle and then have everyone flip.
The Buckeyes have started spending some money on the recruiting trail. That has clearly opened up their opportunities when it comes to recruits. With Spring ball finished, this is the main thing that fans have to look forward to is progress on the recruiting trail.
Camps are going to start up soon, which will afford coaches a deeper opportunity to watch some elite recruits up close. That could afford them a chance to offer some really good recruits in future classes, as well.
