The Ohio State football program is losing another coordinator. Just a week after losing their defensive coordinator, the Buckeyes will have to replace their offensive coordinator, as well. Chip Kelly has decided to leave Ohio State and head to the Las Vegas Raiders.

This makes life much more difficult for Ryan Day. He now has to replace three different coaches just a couple of weeks after winning the national championship. This is something that multiple teams have had to deal with after winning it all. Alabama had to deal with it for years under Nick Saban.

While the Buckeyes will miss Kelly, they can more easily replace him than Jim Knowles. Ohio State's offense was more dynamic because of Kelly, and Jeremiah Smith was one of the beneficiaries. He had a heartbreaking reaction to Kelly leaving Ohio State for the NFL.

Smith was clearly sad that Kelly decided to leave the Buckeyes to coordinate Las Vegas' offense.

As a freshman, Smith broke pretty much every Ohio State freshman receiving record this past season. He had the most catches, yards, and touchdowns of any freshman receiver in Ohio State football history. He showed that he was the best player on the team.

Smith is someone who can get open and affect a game, no matter who is coordinating the offense. Whoever is hired to replace Kelly shouldn't have any issue finding ways to get him the ball. He can get open against any kind of defense that he sees, as he showcased all year long.

Right now, there are a few names floating out there who could replace Kelly. There's a chance that the Buckeyes decide to promote Brian Hartline. They also could go after someone like Tommy Rees, who just took the Browns OC job. It's unclear this early in the process who they might be targeting.

This is a position that should be extremely attractive to multiple candidates. The Buckeyes are still a great team and will be highly ranked again next year. This hire could determine if they have a chance to repeat as champions.
