The Ohio State football team has the best player in all of college football at the wide receiver position. Jeremiah Smith showed that he is the premier weapon in the country during the Ohio State Buckeyes' run to the national championship last season.
In that four-game CFP run, he was a weapon that no one could stop. Even when Texas gave him some extra attention, that just opened up some space for other players to take down the Longhorns. Smith is big, fast, and strong, and no one can stop him for an extended period of time.
Smith is not only the best player in college football, but he is one of the most popular players, too. Smith was signed to a very generous NIL deal to keep him in Columbus, and he was fulfilling his obligations for that on Sunday. It was a scene out of a movie.
Ohio State football player Jeremiah Smith draws incredible crowd for his autograph signing
As part of the obligations for his NIL deal, Smith was in Polaris to sign some autographs for fans. The signing drew a massive amount of fans, and it was something out of a movie.
I’ve never seen anything like this for a college football player.

Jeremiah Smith’s stardom has reached insane levels.
There are thousands of people at Polaris to get a picture.
Heard someone say “kids 19 years old and he’s my hero” pic.twitter.com/RWF07JpfDy
To have this many people show up to get autographs from one member of the Ohio State Buckeyes is pretty crazy. Add the fact that he is just 19 years old, and that gets even wilder. He is a rock star in Columbus and will be for the next two years as he plays for the Buckeyes.
This is just practice for what Smith will have to deal with when he gets to the NFL. He will likely be a top-five pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, so his celebrity will only increase when he becomes a professional. Fans will turn out in droves to support him and get autographs.
The Buckeyes understand just how good Smith is, and this is the price of fame. Smith is getting compensated handsomely for playing in Columbus. Once he is drafted to be the number-one receiver for an NFL team, his compensation will only go up from there.
Smith is a superstar player, and this scene is proof of that. He's hoping to be a superstar player when the Longhorns come back to the Shoe for a rematch of the Cotton Bowl at the end of the month. He'd love to have a better game against them this time around.
