The Ohio State football program has started Fall camp as they prepare to defend their national championship. They look to do something that hasn't been done since 2021-22, when Georgia won back-to-back titles. Day one didn't go great, as the Buckeyes had a player go down with an injury.

Day two was much better for the Ohio State Buckeyes. They had several players look like they were in mid-season form already. One of those players was wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith returns as a sophomore and is already the best player in the country.

Smith's play on the field during camp isn't the only thing that should scare other teams. After Fall camp was done on Friday, Smith talked with reporters and said something that should terrify the rest of the country if they have to face the Buckeyes at any point.

Following practice, Smith mentioned that he wasn't even playing at full speed a year ago.

As a freshman, he wasn't entirely comfortable with the playbook yet, especially early in the year. Smith was clearly thinking less when he was in the College Football Playoff, carving up Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame. He established himself as the best player in the country then.

For Smith to say that he is going to be scary next year should be a horrifying thought for the rest of the country. He thinks that even with all of the attention that he is going to receive, he can still carve up opposing defenses. The Buckeyes are certainly hoping that's going to be the case.

Ohio State is going to need him to be great right out of the shoot against the Longhorns in the first game of the season. He wants to show that he can beat them more than he did last season, when he was held to just one catch for three yards in the Cotton Bowl.

Smith is determined to absolutely destroy all of the competition that he faces this season, no matter which quarterback is throwing him the ball.
