In what has already been a memorable few weeks for Ohio State and Ryan Day, more good news appears to be on the way out on the recruiting trail. First, Legend Bey was granted his release and he'll now be signing with Ohio State for 2026. However, there's a 2027 playmaker ready to shut down his recruitment too.

Come Friday, 4-star linebacker Quinton Cypher will be announcing his college decision and he's down to a final four of Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and Miami. In some good news for Day and his coaching staff, multiple predictions have come in for the Buckeyes to win out on this recruiting battle:

4-star LB Quinton Cypher is predicted to commit to Ohio State football on Friday

A 6-2, 220-pounder out of North Carolina, Cypher has picked up more than 30 offers throughout his recruitment, but only four teams remain in the hunt to land his services. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's ranked the No. 11 linebacker in the country.

Should he give the Ohio State staff his verbal later this week, it'd no question be a big-time get for the reigning national champs. It would also give Day a nice win before this team gets its College Football Playoff journey going. Come Dec. 31, the Buckeyes will take on either Texas A&M or Miami in the CFP quarterfinals.

As for Cypher, he'd become the eighth known commit for Ohio State's 2027 class. As of this writing, the '27 playmakers on board are wide receiver Jamier Brown, safety Eli Johnson, quarterback Brady Edmunds, safety Angelo Smith, offensive tackle Mason Wilt, offensive tackle Brady McNeel and offensive tackle Kellen Wymer.

Cypher would become the first 'backer on board and it would be a welcome addition for Ohio State. After inking some fantastic standouts during the Early Signing Period for the 2026 class, OSU is ready to shift its full focus to the '27 haul. Getting things done with Cypher would get things going in a massive way there.
