The Ohio State football program is gearing up for another run in the College Football Playoff. This will be the second straight year that the Ohio State Buckeyes come into the Playoff off a loss. Last year, Ryan Day did an excellent job of getting his team past the loss to Michigan.
It led the Buckeyes to go on the best four-game run that the team has ever had, winning the national championship after beating Notre Dame in that final game. This year, Day has the task of helping his team forget the loss to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Day showed confidence in Brian Hartline to call a better game than he did in Indy. Yet, there is something that is happening in the CFP that Day is not happy about. This year, teams will be forced to provide a pregame availability report up to three days before the game.
Ryan Day likely won't like having to give an availability report for Ohio State in CFP
Day has been notoriously stingy when it comes to providing injury updates for his players. He was coy during Michigan week, not letting anyone know that either Jeremiah Smith or Carnell Tate were going to play until the last minute. He would love to do that in the CFP.
Alas, Day will have to alter his routine. He will be forced to give a normal injury report, just as they do in the NFL. He's not the only one who has to do this, either. All College Football Playoff participants will have to release these reports daily before their game is played.
With the Buckeyes getting three weeks off before their first game, there will likely be no issues. His guys should be rested and ready to go in the Cotton Bowl. The question is whether Day will be peeved about the new rule after that first game if the Buckeyes are able to win
