With Brian Hartline on the coaching staff, the Ohio State football program has been able to land five-star receiver recruits almost every single year. Hartline helped develop four consecutive first-round picks, which is soon to be five once April rolls around.
Hartline decided to head to USF to become a head coach. Without Hartline, fans of the Buckeyes have been worried about recruiting, especially at the receiver position. They were able to snag a couple of five-star recruits in the 2026 class, but Hartline helped get those kids.
In the post-Hartline era, the Ohio State Buckeyes are still hoping to have the cache to land elite receiver recruits. New wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton is hoping land his first five-star recruit as a member of the Buceyes, and he is on the cusp of doing just that.
Ohio State football is in the final four for Monshun Sales
Monshun Sales is a five-star receiver recruit and is listed as the second-best receiver in the country out of Indianapolis. The Lawrence North wide receiver has now narrowed down his final decision to four schools, and the Buckeyes are one of those schools.
Other than Ohio State, Sales is considering Alabama, Miami, and Indiana. The Buckeyes lost their final two games to IU and Miami, so it would hurt to lose Sales to either one of those programs. Ohio State has been in on Sales for quite a while, but he still seems interested, even with Hartline gone.
Sales stands at 6'5 and 195 pounds. His size allows him to grab jump balls, and his eyes track deep passes very well. The Buckeyes are hoping to bring him in for the 2027 recruiting class and put him next to both Chris Henry Jr. and Jerquaden Guilford.
At this point, it is unclear when Sales will make his final decision. Signing Day is almost a year away, so the Buckeyes will have to wait a while.
