The Ohio State football program prides itself on taking the best talent from the state of Ohio. They identify the best high school kids in the state every year and make sure they take as many of them as they can. Ryan Day has made that more of an emphasis in recent years.
Luke Montgomery is one of those in-state kids with a ton of talent. Coming out of Northwest Ohio, Montgomery was a four-star recruit. He ended up finishing last year as a starter and looks to be the starting left guard on the 2025 team, as well.
Montgomery knows how good the talent is in the state of Ohio. It is recognized nationally as one of the states that produces the best talent year after year. Montgomery agrees with that, and he actually believes that Ohio is a top-three state when it comes to producing high school talent.
Ohio State guard Luke Montgomery believes the state of Ohio is a top-three state at producing high school football players
In an interview with us at the Voice of College Football, my co-host was able to interview Montgomery. He was asked what he thinks about the high school talent in Ohio, and he immediately praised it.
"I think Ohio is top three. There's no doubt in my mind. There's a mixture of inner-city and blue-collar kids, and both sides are tough. Tough as nails. That's what you get when you play Ohio football."Luke Montgomery
It's clear that Montgomery has a lot of respect for the talent around the state of Ohio when it comes to high school football. He was one of the best kids to come out of Findlay High School in his recruiting class, but he still played against a lot of other really good players.
Montgomery isn't going to be the only player we interview over on the Ohio State channel on VOCFB, even though I wasn't available for this one. Come join me and my co-host on Mondays and Thursdays at 8 pm for our shows. It's a lot of fun.
