While the Ohio State football team isn't going to overlook Rutgers this weekend, it's safe to assume that plenty of fans are already getting themselves mentally prepared for the Nov. 29 dance with Michigan. Will revenge be on the way for head man Ryan Day?
CFP rankings show Ohio State is locked in no matter what
That's what everyone in Columbus is hoping for, as the Buckeyes have lost four straight games against the Wolverines. Well, the Vegas oddsmakers seem to think a dominant win is on the way for Ohio State. The betting line opened with the Buckeyes favored by 12.5 points. Since then, that line has moved to 13.5 points on the FanDuel sportsbook. That's quite interesting if you ask us.
Ohio State football is now favored by 13.5 points over Michigan
While it may not seem like a one-point jump is big, it sure is pretty darn telling that the Buckeyes are almost a 14-point favorite over their hated rivals. As of this writing, Ohio State is a perfect 10-0 on the season and they should move to 11-0 this weekend.
The Wolverines are 8-2 and they're on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff. With an upset win against the Buckeyes, they'd probably sneak on in, right? That's something OSU fans don't even want to think about, as they're hoping for a lopsided victory.
Will Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate play vs. Michigan?
What's going to have a major impact on this meeting will be if Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate are both good to go. Day has given some pretty vague updates of late on the two superstar receivers and they haven't sat well for a lot of people.
At this point, it's fully unknown if either will play against Rutgers, but from our chair, giving them the week off to rest in a game Ohio State is supposed to dominate in would be the wise choice. Soon enough, we'll find out if Smith and Tate will be ready to rock against Michigan, but we have a feeling nothing will stop those two from suiting up. They're going to be quite motivated to silence the Wolverines - as will everyone else on the Ohio State sideline.
