The Ohio State football program has started to focus on recruiting efforts for the 2027 class. With Spring ball still a few weeks away, the coaching staff is able to focus on developing relationships with some of the best prospects in next year's recruiting class.
So far, the Buckeyes have done that. They have the third-best recruiting class in 2027. There is a lot of time between now and Signing Day for this class, so the Ohio State Buckeyes want to add as many commitments as possible. Landing the best recruit is a good start.
Now that the coaching staff is largely settled, Ohio State has been able to send some assistant coaches on the road to recruit. Several recruits have put the Buckeyes on their final list. Now, an under-the-radar linebacker has decided that Ohio State is in his final list of schools.
Linebacker Jhadyn Nelson has Ohio State football team in his final list of schools
Linebacker Jhadyn Nelson has put the Buckeyes in his top three schools. Nelson is currently not ranked in the recruiting rankings, but he clearly has a lot of raw talent if James Laurinaitis is recruiting him. Laurinaitis has developed an excellent track record of identifying and developing talent at the linebacker position.
As one of the best linebackers in Ohio State football history, Laurinaitis knows what it takes to excel at the position. He must see something that other programs don't in Nelson. Nelson will also have a chance to fly up the rankings this Fall once the season starts up again.
Nelson has good size, standing 6'3 adn 210 pounds. That physique shows that he has something that can't be taught. Laurinaitis can teach him the finer points of playing the position. Nelson doesn't know when he will make his final decision, but he has plenty of time.
Ohio State would love to lock up a great recruiting class next season, as they have made it clear that building rosters from the high school ranks will continue to be their focus.
