The Ohio State football program is working on building its 2027 recruiting class. They are set to host some recruits this weekend. Right now, they have the third-best recruiting class in the nation. However, they might have some issues with DJ Jacobs, as he visited Miami recently.
Jacobs is the best overall recruit in the country. He committed to the Buckeyes last year, and it won't be easy for them to hold on to him. It is a long time between now and Signing Day, which gives other programs plenty of time to try to steal Jacobs away from the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Ryan Day feels confident about their ability to hold on to Jacobs, but they will have to fight off Miami and other programs for the next eight months. He is focused on other recruits. Unfortunately, they just lost out on another defensive end recruit to a Big Ten foe.
Ohio State football loses out on four-star recruit to Oregon
Four-star edge recruit Rashad Streets, whom the Buckeyes were pursuing, has chosen Oregon instead. He chose the Ducks over Ohio State, NC State, and Alabama. It would have been nice for Ohio State to land him in addition to the other recruits they have landed already.
Ohio State has started losing more recruits to Oregon since it joined the Big Ten. Joining the conference has also allowed them to get more funding from big donors, especially Phil Knight. That has helped them flip some recruits from the Buckeyes in the last couple of years.
It's never ideal for Ohio State to lose out on recruits, but the edge spot is one place on the roster that they don't need extra depth. Streets chose Oregon because he believes he can get playing time sooner with the Ducks. He's probably right, as Ohio State has several other highly talented edge players already on the roster.
