The Ohio State football program has done a fantastic job of recruiting the wide receiver position over the last few years. Brian Hartline established himself as the premier recruiter in the country, not just as a wide receiver coach. He was perhaps Ohio State's most valuable assistant coach.

With Hartline now in South Florida, the Buckeyes are hoping to continue their great recruiting of receivers. Cortez Hankton is in charge of bringing in the five-star recruits that Hartline was able to bring in the past. So far, he has a couple of visits scheduled for some of those recruits.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are still one of the most prestigious teams recruits can play for, and Ryan Day loves using receivers. Now, they have a visit locked in from one of the best receiver recruits in the country for the 2027 recruiting class.

Ohio State football team locks in visit with Eric McFarland

Four-star receiver recruit Eric McFarland has locked in a visit with the Buckeyes. He will be in Columbus on June 12, which is the final visit that McFarland has scheduled for the summer. He will also be visiting Georgia, Texas A&M, and USC. All of those visits will take place before the Ohio State one.

Getting the last visit means that Ohio State gets a chance to make the final impression on McFarland. Ohio State does an excellent job of closing on recruits, especially when they are the last ones to earn a visit. They already have a five-star receiver recruit for the 2027 class to join him, as well.

Once Hankton is able to land his first elite receiver recruit, Ohio State football fans will be happier. Having a drop in the quality of receiver recruits would be bad for the offense at large, as Ohio State has been more of a pass-first offense since Ryan Day started his career as the offense coordinator of the team.
