Talk about a complete and total surprise for Ohio State football fans to enjoy. While the focus is on the 2026 class for Ryan Day and his coaching staff, this doesn't mean that the Buckeyes have forgotten about fast risers for '27.

The list includes signal-caller Elijah Haven, one of the top prospects overall for his class. In some big news for Ohio State, On3 has reported that Haven will be on campus Thursday for the start of an unofficial visit. This obviously is a welcome update. Could this trip help send things over the top for Ohio State down the road?

5-star QB Elijah Haven is visiting Ohio State on Thursday

As you might have been able to guess, the Ohio State faithful are pretty darn fired up over this news and understandably so. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-5, 215-pounder out of Baton Rouge has already picked up 13 offers. That number will obviously grow in the coming months.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Haven is ranked five stars, the No. 1 quarterback in the country, No. 4 prospect from Louisiana and No. 22 prospect overall for '27. His list of offers includes Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan and others.

Day and the Buckeyes are yet to put an offer on the table for the youngster, but that could end up changing after this trip to Columbus. For the 2027 class, the Buckeyes hold a verbal pledge from Brady Edmunds, a 4-star QB from California.

With Edmunds on board, the expectation was that Day would just focus on him as his signal-caller for '27. However, this new interest in Haven sure has plenty of people talking. Could Day end up being open to taking two QBs? That appears to be the case, as Ohio State will look to impress Haven while he's on campus. Don't be surprised if a scholarship is extended sooner rather than later for him.
