Ohio State football hoping to fend off Oregon for another elite WR commit

Dan Lanning just won't stop, will he?

In terms of wide receiver recruiting, no one can argue with the fact that offensive coordinator Brian Hartline is doing a tremendous job for Ohio State football. However, as we all know with recruiting, nothing is ever done until the Early Signing Period gets here.

5-star Ohio State football target makes it clear the Buckeyes are on his mind

This is something Dan Lanning and Oregon are fully aware of. Ohio State fans already knew about Lanning still going after 5-star wideout Chris Henry Jr., but he's not the only one. Per Rivals' Adam Gorney, the Ducks are still pushing hard for fellow Mater Dei (California) stud Kayden Dixon-Wyatt. Is this something for the OSU faithful to be worried about?

Oregon is still hoping to flip Ohio State WR commit Kayden Dixon-Wyatt

It's not a surprise at all that Oregon is still pushing for BOTH Henry and Dixon-Wyatt. Both are incredible talents and they've got primetime talent written all over them for the college level. This is why Hartline and Ryan Day are so excited that they're Columbus-bound.

Henry and Dixon-Wyatt have said they're locked in with Ohio State and it doesn't look like anything is going to change their minds. With that said, nothing will be done with the two until December at the earliest when they can put the pen to paper during the Early Signing Period.

Lanning is going to keep doing what he can to change their minds, but will it be for nothing? A major selling point Hartline has is the fact that it feels like any WR who plays for him goes on to do big things in the pros. Did you see how Emeka Egbuka and Jaxon Smith-Njigba looked in the Seahawks vs. Bucs game? Yeah, it was pretty special.

Dixon-Wyatt also knows that Ohio State is currently the No. 1 team in the country and the reigning national champs. If all goes to plan, the Buckeyes will repeat as the champs and once again take down the Ducks in the Big Ten title game en route to the ultimate glory in January.

Should that happen, it might make Dixon-Wyatt and Henry appreciate even more that they're going to be playing for the Buckeyes and not the Ducks. Lanning can keep swinging here, but we don't see either player making a last-minute flip.
