The Ohio State football team has not had Carnell Tate for the last three games they have played. Against Purdue, UCLA, and Rutgers, Tate sat on the sidelines. After going through warm-ups against the Boilermakers, he decided not to go after feeling something.
While Ryan Day refuses to fully disclose exactly what the injury is, it is not serious. Tate probably could have played in each of the last two games. However, it's clear that Tate wanted to get himself to 100 percent for The Game. He seems to be closer to that at this point.
While Ryan Day continues to be coy with Tate's availability, he may have slipped up on Wednesday. He did not give a direct update, but he did mention the practice status of everyone on the team, including both Tate and fellow receiver Jeremiah Smith, who did not play against Rutgers.
Carnell Tate practices for the Ohio State football team
Day mentioned that everyone practiced on Wednesday, which includes Tate. That means that Tate is likely going to play on Saturday afternoon. That is great news, because they are going to need everyone in order to end this streak. Day did not officially release what his status is for the game.
At this point, it would be shocking if Tate were not out on the field. Smith already confirmed that he will be out there. Having both receivers out there will make Ohio State's passing attack much more potent than it was a week ago. TTUN shouldn't have an answer for either Smith or Tate with them both out there.
The bigger issue for TTUN is scoring on Ohio State's defense. They have the best defense in the country in just about every single category. With a true freshman quarterback going against this great Ohio State defense, Michigan could be in for a long day.
Meanwhile, Tate could have a massive game against the Wolverines. He has been resting for the last few weeks, so he'll be fresher than anyone covering him on Michigan's defense.
