Ohio State football fans notice a concerning patter about the three All-Americans
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program had three players selected as All-Americans on Thursday. All three players deserved that accolade. Jeremiah Smith becomes the first freshman Ohio State receiver to be a Second-team All-American. The Buckeyes had two First-team All-Americans too.
In addition to winning the Rimington Trophy, Seth McLaughlin was named a First-team All-American. After transferring from Alabama, he did exactly what he was supposed to. He wasn't the only transfer from Bama to get awarded for his great play. Caleb Downs was also named as a First-team All-American.
As you can see, two of the All-Americans were transfers this season. The other one was a true freshman. What do those three players have in common? Ohio State football fans have noticed that all three of those players have only been in the program for just a year.
The Ohio State football team had three first-year Buckeyes become All-Americans
Ohio State football fans have made that connection online. This is a concerning problem. People have noticed that the players who played the best this season have had the least amount of time under Ryan Day's influence. Could that be why they were as good as they did?
I certainly hope that isn't the case. If the only reason why they were All-Americans is because Day was only able to coach them for a year, that's cause for bigger concern. That could mean that the rest of the players won't continue to develop as they should. I hope that's not the case.
Day is under an enormous amount of pressure from the fanbase. It doesn't sound like he has that kind of pressure from the Ohio State administration, though. If Ohio State loses to Tennessee, there probably won't be any immediate consequences.
Soon enough, the consequences will come. If Day doesn't win a national championship this year, the fans will eventually get to a point of no return.
