The Ohio State football team has finished getting some bowl reps in Columbus. They are now en route to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl, where they will continue to get the bowl practices in. While this is an important time for the starters who are getting ready to play in this game, it's also important for the backups.

For the backups who don't see much playing time, these reps are extremely valuable. It allows these guys to get extended reps against some of the other backups, which can help their development for the following year. That's especially valuable for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Julian Sayin is the definitive starter for the Buckeyes at the quarterback position for next year. After being a Heisman Finalist as a freshman, he's in no danger of losing his job. Still, fans were fawning over true freshman Tavien St. Clair after video emerged of him throwing during practice.

Ohio State football fans love what they see from Tavien St. Clair

St. Clair was the number-four overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting class. He didn't have much of a chance to win the starting job in the Fall, but he certainly looks like he has the ideal body for the position. Take a look at the footage below.

Interestingly enough, it looks like St. Clair got the reps directly after Sayin. Lincoln Kienholz was nowhere to be found in this particular clip. Fans loved just how big St. Clair is and how well the ball came off his hand. He looks like he could be a really good quarterback someday.

Of course, it will be a while before St. Clair gets that chance with the Buckeyes. He has to wait for Sayin to play next year. After that, Sayin will likely declare for the NFL Draft. That would give St. Clair a chance to win the starting job against some other quarterbacks on the current roster and future recruits.

Beating Miami is the priority, but it's nice to get a glimpse of the future.
