The Ohio State football team won't be playing this weekend. They are on a bye week trying to fix some things that went wrong in the game against Oregon on Saturday night. This was probably the best possible time for the bye week to happen if they were going to lose that game.

Despite the loss, the Buckeyes still have every goal available in front of them. They can still win the Big Ten and a national championship. Still, fans aren't quite ready to think about that yet. They're still angry with how Ryan Day handled the end of the Oregon game.

This ended up being a bad time to release the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year midseason watchlist. The Dodd Trophy is given to the best coach in the country every single year. Day was on the preseason watchlist and now he is also on the midseason watchlist.

Day is one of 20 coaches that is on the midseason watchlist. In order for him to win the award, the Ohio State Buckeyes are going to need to make sure that they at least win the Big Ten. If Day can't lead the team to a conference championship, he won't win this award.

If Day were to get this team to win a national title this year, his whole legacy would change. He would no longer be on the hot seat. He'd get job security for at least the next five years. That's something he needs because some fans are ready for someone else to come in.

The Buckeyes play Nebraska next weekend. The Cornhuskers aren't a bad team. It will be telling how Ohio State comes out for that game. I fully expect them to come out angry and with something to prove.
