Ryan Day is under fire yet again. Since the Ohio State football team lost to Oregon, Day has been criticized for his coaching performance. Dan Lanning coached circles around him. The late-game scenario where he intentionally had an illegal substitution penalty to get time off the clock is a prime example of that.

Day's lack of success in the biggest games the Buckeyes play has rubbed fans the wrong way. Some fans are ready to cast him aside and fire him. They are ready for the Ohio State Buckeyes to have someone else run the show. Maybe someone else an get the most out of this supreme talent.

Of course, Day can still prove the naysayers wrong. Ohio State is the fourth-ranked team in the country. They aren't 24th. They are still very much in the thick of things for the College Football Playoff. Ohio State can still win a Big Ten title. Day can still change people's minds.

Ryan Day can still make Ohio State football fans happy

In order to make fans happy, Day has to do at least two things. He has to get this team to beat Michigan first and foremost. If Day loses to Michigan for a fourth straight time, you can better believe the calls will be louder than ever to replace him. He wouldn't survive another loss in The Game.

The second thing Day needs to do is change the minds of some fans. Ohio State needs to win the Big Ten Championship. That would give them an automatic berth in the CFP. Winning the national championship would obviously guarantee his job security, but that's not totally necessary.

Day still has a chance to prove people wrong. He just has to make the necessary adjustments to make sure that his team is as prepared as possible to win these close games. What he's done in the past hasn't really worked so far.
