The Dr. Richard Strauss case has dragged on for quite some time at Ohio State. The former doctor was found by an independent study paid for by the university to have abused thousands of victims. It started with the wrestling program, but many other victims have spoken up about the abuse.

A documentary on HBO detailed the extended abuse that Strauss was allowed to inflict over the span of 15+ years while working as a doctor for the university. Surviving Ohio State gave some chilling details as to what former athletes had to go through and what Ohio State refuses to do.

New HBO documentary explains why Ohio State continues to fight lawsuits from abuse victims

Listening to and seeing the details of the abuse is extremely tough to watch, so viewer discretion is advised. Due to the graphic nature of the abuse, I will not be sharing any of the details of what happened to the former athletes. I suggest watching the documentary for yourself.

Ohio State is still trying to fight victims of the abuse in court, trying as hard as they can to not pay out money and admit fault or responsibility for allowing the abuse to happen. Former athletes continue to fight the university in order to have it take responsibility.

All of the athletes loved representing the Ohio State Buckeyes. Unfortunately, some of them quit their pursuits in wrestling, hockey, and other athletic teams due to the abuse they suffered. Quite frankly, it made me extremely disappointed in the university that I love.

I suggest that everyone watch the documentary. It is streaming on Max, but it goes into disturbing detail. As I said before, please use discretion before viewing it. In any case, the lawsuits rage on as Ohio State tries to find ways to avoid taking responsibility.
