The Ohio State University now has one of the best wrestling programs in the country. Tom Ryan and the work that he's done as the coach is a big reason for their rise to prominence. Ryan has turned the program into a national championship contender year after year.
Unfortunately, there are still some skeletons in the wrestling program's closet. Dr. Richard Strauss is at the heart of most of them. The former doctor was found to have abused hundreds of student athletes over the course of his career, with most of them being wrestlers.
Because of Strauss' transgressions, the university was sued by several victims of the abuse. Ohio State has now had to pay out hundreds of millions of dollars to past victims because of what he did to his victims. Now, there is an HBO documentary that will be released about the events.
HBO will release a documentary detailing Ohio State's response to the Richard Strauss saga
The documentary will be released in just a couple of weeks, premiering on HBO and on MAX on June 17th.
Strauss is alleged to have abussed thousands of athletes during his time with Ohio State. Victims have sued the university, and the university tried to fight most of the lawsuits when they all started. Now, claims have started to go out a little bit easier.
This documentary will show all of the things that the victims have had to go through. Strauss should have been stopped long before he actually was. Unfortunately, Strauss died by suicide in 2003, so he doesn't have to face any of the consequences for his actions.
Ohio State fans might want to watch this documentary to get educated about everything that has been happening over the last few years. The Ohio State Buckeyes have to be better.
