Since Ryan Day took over the Ohio State football program, he has been under a massive amount of pressure. His predecessor, Urban Meyer, had the Buckeyes in the midst of championships almost every single season he was coaching them. He also won a national title in 2014.

Yet, Day has done a fantastic job of keeping the standard high in Columbus. He won a national championship two years ago and finally was able to beat TTUN. In his career, the Buckeyes have made five College Football Playoffs and have played for two national titles.

The Ohio State Buckeyes looked primed to succeed again in 2026. Yet, he doesn't seem to get the outside respect that he deserves. One college football pundit believes that Day is the most disrespected figure in all of college football.

According to J.D. PicKell, Day is the most wrongfully disrespected member of the college football community.

Heading into the 2026 season, the Buckeyes should be considered one of the favorites to win it all because of their offensive firepower. Yet, Vegas has an insanely disrespectful over/under for the upcoming season for the Buckeyes. If Day is able to win big this season, he will earn an immense amount of respect.

Perhaps part of the reason why Day is wrongfully disrespected is the fact that he still has just two Big Ten Championships to his name. He hasn't won the conference since 2020. The four-game losing streak to the Wolverines didn't help his reputation, either.

Now that Day has gotten the Michigan monkey off his back, he could be fully unlocked. He was clearly calling the plays for the last two games of last season, which won't be happening again in 2026. Arthur Smith is locked in with those duties, which means the Buckeyes should put up a ton of points.

At the end of the 2026 season, PicKell likely won't have Day at the top of this list any longer.
