The Ohio State basketball team played a scrimmage on Friday night against Cincinnati. It's the first time that these Buckeyes have been able to play together against a pretty solid program. While the game wasn't on TV, it was still our first chance to find out more about this team.

Now that Jake Diebler is leading the team for the entire season, he has a chance to show that things are going to be different. The team has been a mess under Chris Holtmann in the last couple of years. Looking at this team with a lot of new faces, it's clear that the Ohio State Buckeyes still have a lot of work to do.

Ohio State fell to Cincinnati 80-62. It was a game that wasn't particularly close. The Buckeyes didn't have their starting center Aaron Bradshaw for this, but that's still a startling score. It was only a scrimmage, but it gives us a glimpse of some of the issues they're going to have to work through.

The Buckeyes had 11 turnovers in the first half and only scored 31 points. They also only made 2/8 from three in that half and they found themselves down ten. When it was all said in done, they only made 6/18 of their shots from deep. That's just 33%. They also finished with a whopping 17 turnovers.

Micah Parrish and Meechie Johnson were the leading scorers of the game for the Buckeyes. They each scored 11 points but did so on just 6/23 shooting combined. Ohio State shot an abysmal 35.8% from the field. It's clear that this team is going to struggle to score.

Of course, this is just a scrimmage. No real games have been played yet. The Buckeyes still have a few weeks to fix some things. But Ohio State basketball fans might be in for another rough season.
