DJ Jacobs has been committed to Ohio State for four months now, yet why does everyone outside of Columbus have a feeling he might be flipping here soon? While the Georgia legacy has shown no real interest in playing for his namesake father's alma mater, programs like Miami and Oregon have been trying to poach him away from Ohio State ever since he committed. This photo had everyone scared!
Jacobs shared on social media him wearing all Oregon gear after being at Ohio State's spring game.

A bit later, Ohio State recruiting analyst Mick Walker shared out this photo of Jacobs and his brother.
Just a clarification, this is DJ’s younger brother Dawson, who’s a top 2028 defensive lineman, in the picture.

The picture in question has Jacobs and his younger brother Dawson decked out in Ohio State gear.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Jacobs is the No. 1 player from Georgia, the No. 1 edge rusher in the country, and the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. He has been committed to Ohio State out of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia since Dec. 29, 2025. Other teams may still want to flip him, but he and his brother might want to play together.

DJ Jacobs briefly had Ohio State fans worried he was flipping to Oregon
In recent weeks, Jacobs has seen his recruiting rankings take a hit, or at least over on Rivals... This might be because Rivals wanted to create its own content news by docking the consensus best prospect in the 2027 class some 11 spots, just to stir the pot a bit. There may be some validity to him playing at a lower designation of Georgia high school football at a smaller Atlanta area private school.
In reality, maybe these sort of social media shenanigans could play a part in his overall grade being diminished over on Rivals? If you were the best in your class at something, riding a full scholarship to somewhere special, why would you be posting on social media you in another school's colors? Once you commit, you should be all-in. Jacobs can do whatever he wants, but this is a tad concerning here.
Let's be real with ourselves. We live in the day and age of NIL. A player's commitment is only as good as the national letter of intent they end up signing. If there are NIL implications attached to an NLI, then so be it. In truth, we have a long way to go before National Signing Day. Ohio State must hold off any potential poachers for Jacobs' five-star services between now and December. This is exhausting.
It may not have seemed like much for Jacobs to be wearing Oregon clothes, but the optics are rough.
