The Ohio State football team did not have a good finish to the 2024 regular season. For the fourth straight season, the Buckeyes lost to Michigan. This time, it was by a 13-10 score. The Ohio State Buckeyes failed to score in the second half of this game.
After the loss, many fans were calling for Ryan Day to be fired. He has just one win against TTUN, and it was back in 2019 with Urban Meyer's players. He hasn't been able to get a victory against them since, no matter where The Game has been played. Fans have had it.
Of course, the season isn't over. Ohio State will be in the College Football Playoff and will have a shot at winning a national championship. This is the second time that has happened for this team, as it also happened after the 2022 loss. Athletic director Ross Bjork still is supporting Day, though.
Ross Bjork gives Ryan Day his support as the coach of the Ohio State football team
On Sunday, Bjork gave Day his full support. He says that the reasons for the losses will be analyzed but that he will have his full support. Bjork did stop short of saying that Day is the coach moving forward, though. That's something that will probably be dictated on whether or not Ohio State can make a run in the CFP.
Bjork can't say that he's going to fire Day while there's still some season left. If he is going to do anything, it won't happen until after the Playoff is finished. If Ohio State wins a national championship, Day will obviously be back. Anything short of that leaves things in the air.
This statement of support from Bjork isn't surprising considering that there are still games left to play. Day just better hope that the support continues after the CFP.
