Another loss shows that the Ohio State football team needs to move on from Ryan Day
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has lost yet another game to Michigan. It was the fourth straight loss to Michigan. This is something that hasn't happened since the John Cooper era. I have called Ryan Day John Cooper 2.0 and I am not about to walk that take back right now.
It's very clear that Day can't beat Michigan. The Ohio State Buckeyes were a 19-point favorite heading into this game. TTUN was just a 6-5 team heading into this game. There was no reason for them to come in and beat the Buckeyes in the final game of the season.
The seniors will now leave this program without a single pair of gold pants. Day has lost four consecutive games to this team. It has become quite clear that Day can no longer lead this program. Ross Bjork needs to fire Day unless he somehow wins a national championship this season.
The Ohio State football program needs a new leader
Day mentioned in his post-game press conference that he has no words for their loss. Even when there was a post-game skirmish, he couldn't say much. All he could say about the fight at the end is that Ohio State wasn't going to let Michigan plant a flag on the field.
Quite frankly, TTUN deserves to plant a flag. Michigan owns Ohio State right now. They own Ryan Day. There is nothing he can say or do that makes this loss okay. Day is a loser and anything to the contrary is wrong. This program deserves something better than him.
This is the most embarrassing loss that the Ohio State football program has had since the loss to Purdue in 2018. The players change every year. The assistant coaches change every year. Ryan Day is the only constant. He needs to be fired.
Bjork needs to show a backbone and get someone who can actually beat TTUN. This team is going to lose in the first round of the CFP, so they should start the coaching search soon after that.
