The Ohio State football team is taking on Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Friday night. The winner gets to play for a national championship. The winner will actually get to take on Notre Dame after the Fighting Irish took down Penn State in the Orange Bowl 27-24.
Notre Dame scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to win the game, making a game-winning field goal with under ten seconds left. They will now play for their first national championship since they got crushed by Alabama back in the 2012 season when Ohio State had a bowl ban.
Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame's starting running back had some words for the Ohio State Buckeyes following the victory. He called them out by name, saying that the Irish want to play Ohio State instead of Texas. Now, the Buckeyes have some extra motivation to win Friday night's game.
Notre Dame player calls out the Ohio State football team
Love wants to play the Buckeyes. Has he not seen what Ohio State has done in the last couple of weeks? The Buckeyes have absolutely slaughtered Tennessee and Oregon. Neither of those games was close, and the Buckeyes look like the best team in college football.
It's not usually a good thing to give the best team in college football some extra motivation. Love actually better hope that Texas wins this game. If the Buckeyes win the game, the Irish would be in big trouble. Notre Dame's offense isn't explosive enough to keep up.
In order for this to matter, the Buckeyes have to beat the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. They have to stay singularly focused on what's in front of them. After they win this game, then they can focus on how stupid of a comment Love made.
The Buckeyes are one game away from their first National Championship Game since 2020.
