Michigan given laughable goal for Ohio State, Oklahoma, Iowa, Penn State, Indiana, and Oregon matchups

TTUN is about to face some tough times during the 2026 College Football season. Don't believe me? Take a look at what the Wolverines' goals are this fall with Kyle Whittingham taking over the program after 21 seasons with the Utah Utes.

CBS Sports' Brad Crawford believes it'd be a "mini-miracle" for TTUN to go .500 against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, Iowa Hawkeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Indiana Hoosiers, and Oregon Ducks.

"The schedule includes Oklahoma, Iowa, Penn State, and Indiana at home before road battles at Oregon and Ohio State in the final three weeks of the season. Realistically, going .500 against those six opponents could feel like a mini-win for Whittingham and staff," Crawford wrote.

A program three calendar years removed from an undefeated national championship run would now be lucky not to lose four games against the top six teams on its schedule. Losing Jim Harbaugh, and mainly, replacing him with Sherrone Moore, has utterly destroyed the program.

Ohio State can help Michigan out by dominating them

The lowly expectations in Ann Arbor aren't going to work for very long. Like any historic College Football program going through hard times, Wolverine fans will only tolerate a low ceiling for so long. Like Alabama Crimson Tide fans with Kalen DeBoer since 2024, the anger at Whittingham will only grow the less recognizable the program looks from the Harbaugh days.

Ohio State could do both fanbases in "The Game" a favor by obliterating the Maize and Blue in 2026, 2027, and whatever other years Whittingham is TTUN's head coach for. Bottoming out sooner than later, with a head coach who was merely meant to be transitional as the Wolverines exit an ugly era for their football program, filled with scandals on the field, on the recruiting trail, and off the field entirely, is best for TTUN.

Of course, it'll be great for the Buckeyes too, as they start their own years-long winning streak in "The Game" after inexplicably being on the wrong side of one from 2021-2024.
