The Ohio State football team beat TTUN for the first time in four years last month. It was the first time that the Buckeyes had been able to beat Michigan with Ryan Day using players he had recruited himself as a head coach. That 27-9 victory was about as dominating as possible.
That was the last game that Sherrone Moore coached for TTUN. In fact, it might be the final game that he coaches at all. He was fired a couple of weeks after that game and has spiraled since. Now, TTUN is still searching for a new head coach to lead the program.
Several high-profile candidates have already turned down the job. It's a job that has a lot of pitfalls, and the whole program seems to have a toxicity to it. It seems that they have finally found someone to take over the job, and it's a coach the Ohio State Buckeyes already own.
Michigan close to hiring Kyle Whittingham as next head coach to lose to Ohio State
According to multiple reports, the Wolverines are closing in on a deal to hire Kyle Whittingham as the next head coach of Michigan. Whittingham has been the coach of Utah for the past two decades and just stepped down a few weeks ago. He has already played the Buckeyes, as well.
Ohio State took down the Utes in a very high-scoring Rose Bowl. In 2022, Ryan Day beat Utah 48-45 in what was a very entertaining game. It was a solid win for Ohio State because both top receivers decided to opt out of that game, as both Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson did not play.
Whittingham hasn't been a good coach for the last couple of years at Utah. It seems that the NIL era has made things harder for Whittingham to succeed. While he will have more money to work with at Michigan, Ohio State fans should not be worried about that hire if he ends up signing with them.
