Early on for the 2027 class, Ohio State and Ryan Day have been on an absolute tear. As of this writing, the Buckeyes hold nine verbal pledges for the '27 haul, with plenty of talent on the way to Columbus down the road for people to get excited about.
Ohio State football commit is working to help Ryan Day land a 5-star OL
The group is led by 5-star commits Jamier Brown and David Jacobs. However, with the Early Signing Period not coming until next December, other teams are still working to flip the elite Ohio State commits. Miami is certainly on that list. It was previously reported that Mario Cristobal is still making a strong push to land Brown, but now EJ Holland has added a Jacobs update that OSU fans won't love:

Miami and Mario Cristobal are working to flip 5-star Ohio State commit David Jacobs
It shouldn't be a surprise at all that Cristobal isn't giving up here, as there are still more than nine months left until Jacobs can make things official with the Buckeyes and Day. Because of this, Miami surely won't be the only school that's going to be in his ear.
Brown and Jacobs both getting courted by Miami, however, just won't sit well with a lot of fans. The hope will be that Ohio State will be able to hang on to both playmakers and have them be studs on offense and defense, respectively, for several years.
With Jacobs in particular, he's got standout pass-rusher in the Big Ten written all over him and Day is going to want to keep things that way. Per the 247Sports Composite, the 6-5, 225-pounder is ranked five stars, the No. 1 EDGE in the country and No. 8 player overall.
Jacobs has been committed to Ohio State since late December and he has shown no signs of wavering in his decision since. He picked the Buckeyes over more than 30 additional offers, which made this a huge recruiting win for Day and his staff. As great as the moment of landing him was, Day is now going to have to do his best to hold off Cristobal with Miami charging here.
