The Ohio State football program was very prominent during the 2026 NFL Draft. They had four guys go in the first 11 picks, which was something that hadn't happened since 1967. Carnell Tate was the first one taken, as he was the fourth overall pick by the Tennessee Titans.
Tate was not expected to be the first Buckeye selected. That was expected to be Arvell Reese or Sonny Styles. Instead, Tate was the one who was taken first. Tennessee needs some playmakers for Cam Ward to throw the ball to, and that's why they decided to do.
One player did not have a favorable opinion of the draft pick. New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers voiced his opinion while on a live Bleacher Report broadcast. He seemed to think that the Titans were reaching, but his reasoning doesn't make any sense to fans who watched the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Malik Nabers' reasoning for hating the Carnell Tate pick doesn't make sense to Ohio State fans
Nabers seemed salty that Tate didn't end up coming to LSU, as Nabers hosted his visit.
"He's a very talented player. Like you said, can high-point the ball. But, he's going to do tremendous in Coach Daboll's offense...But I don't think this is a draft to take a receiver that high. That's high for a receiver."
When asked if he saw Tate being a number one receiver, Nabers claims he doesn't see that happening.
"No. I don't see him being a number one. He hasn't been a number one on the team that he has been on."
Nabers couldn't be more wrong in his assessment of Tate. Tate was behind two generational receivers in his time in college. Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiah Smith are both two of the best receivers in the history of the Buckeyes. There was no chance he was going to be the top option.
Tate has all of the skills to be the best receiver on an NFL team. The Titans believe that, as well. Nabers is clearly just mad that Tate didn't go to LSU and then ended up being a higher first-round pick than him.
