The Ohio State football team took down Notre Dame three years in a row from 2022-2024. The Buckeyes won each home-and-home game that they scheduled, as well as the national championship last year. It's clear they are better than the Irish.

After that second victory in 2023, Ryan Day had a fiery response to Lou Holtz calling his team soft. It was instantly turned into a meme, but it showed just how intense Day can get when he is questioned. Holtz also talked trash before the title game last year. Holtz has not forgotten that moment and is still holding it against him.

Despite the Ohio State Buckeyes taking down number one Texas on Saturday, 14-7, Holtz doesn't think that the Buckeyes are a great football team. He also decided to take a shot at Day, showing that he clearly has no love lost for the leader of the Ohio State football program.

Lou Holtz takes a shot at the Ohio State football team and Ryan Day

While talking on Don't @ Me with Dan Dakich, Holtz made sure to take a shot at both the Buckeyes and their leader.

"I don't think Ohio State's a great football team. I know the schedule is very, very good, but when you're at home and you're outgained by well over 100 yards, you just can't say "okay, we're great"...but they're not a great football team. I would not be overwhelmed about facing Ohio State."

He then moved on to Ryan Day, revealing that he wrote to Day and never heard back from him after doing so.

"Ryan Day, he can do whatever he wants. I did write him a congratulatory letter, but I never heard back from him. I'm sure he can write. In any event, he did not answer the letter, but that's his alternative."

Holtz is clearly not pleased that Day has led the Buckeyes to victory over his beloved Irish three times in a row. Day also doesn't respect people who insult his program from the outside who don't follow the team on a day-to-day basis, which is what Holtz did to start everything off.

These two certainly won't be exchanging Christmas cards anytime soon, but Holtz clearly did not watch this game. If he did, he would have realized that Texas gained most of its yards in the fourth quarter after Ohio State took a 14-0 lead. The Buckeyes just shut things down.

Day is not going to worry himself about this. He's focused on winning games.
