It was written in stars once Lee Corso picked Brutus Buckeye with his first-ever headgear pick back in 1996 that he would end his career at the ESPN College Gameday desk with the same headgear pick that started it all.

In his final headgear pick of his College Gameday career, Lee Corso picked his first love, Brutus Buckeye, meaning he picked the Ohio State Buckeyes to win against the Texas Longhorns. After learning the history of how Corso acquired Burtus to make his Ohio State pick back in 1996, it was the perfect ending to such an incredible career for Corso to pick the Buckeyes in the end.

The entire desk made their picks, except for Corso, with it being split down the middle between Texas and Ohio State, so of course, Corso having to break the tie was just the perfect way to end it all. Gameday even built the suspense by making the picks and then cutting to the Ohio State band playing the National Anthem on live television and a flyover of the stadium.

Before he made his final headgear pick of his career, ESPN showed the most tearjerking tribute video to Corso, making every college football fan ugly cry. After the video, it was shown at the Gameday desk and rolled onto the field in the Horseshoe for everyone to see who the legend would end his career with.

"This is one of the easiest picks I've ever made," Corso said. "Give me my first love!"

College Gameday made Lee Corso's final show incredibly memorable

The College Gameday staff as a whole did a perfect job at honoring Coach Corso and all that he has done, not just for the show, but for college football as a whole. Old clips being shown made fans nostalgic for headgear picks from years ago and some of Corsos's best moments.

This game was big for so many reasons, as Ohio State also unveiled the year 2024 for their National Championship.
