In recent days, much has been said about stud Texas left tackle Trevor Goosby suffering his knee injury at fall camp. With the MRI confirming it was just a bone bruise, the Longhorns avoided the worst-case scenario. And now, plenty of signs are pointing to the big-bodied offensive lineman being good to go to take on Ohio State in Week 2.
Per reporter Anwar Richardson, Goosby should only be out for 2-3 weeks, meaning he could even be back for Texas' season-opener. In the worst-case scenario, he'll be just fine to try and contain the Ohio State pass-rush. This is good news for Texas, sure, but it doesn't change a darn thing for Ryan Day and his prep for this monster showdown.
Good news on Texas LT Trevor Goosby. I’m told he’s expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a bone bruise in his left knee. That puts him on track to potentially return around the start of the season, with another week before Texas takes on Ohio State on Sept. 12.https://t.co/Cu8YA8r8J9 pic.twitter.com/nyDBGFVMcH

Ohio State fans should be happy Trevor Goosby will be ready to rock for Week 2
On one side of things, it might have given Ohio State a bit of an advantage if Goosby wasn't going to be set to play vs. the Buckeyes. However, on the flip side, Texas being at full strength is going to give the rest of the country a thrilling look at two of the top teams in the country going to war, and there will be no excuses on either side.
This is why it's a good thing he's going to be healthy. Imagine if Ohio State wins in Austin 27-21 in a complete and total thriller. The excuses coming out of Texas would have been beyond annoying, but thankfully people won't have to put up with the following:
"We would have beaten Ohio State if Goosby was on the field!"
"The only reason Ohio State beat us was because Trevor wasn't in action."
Instead, both teams are going to give it their all to post a convincing victory early in the campaign, which of course is going to have College Football Playoff implications. Last season, Ohio State beat Texas in the season-opener, which was one of the Longhorns' three defeats on the year. It played a huge role in UT watching the CFP from home.
Now, the Horns have revenge on their minds, but Julian Sayin, Jeremiah Smith, and others are ready to make sure the same history from last summer repeats itself. Arch Manning must be feeling pretty dang confident, though, in knowing that the 6-7, 325-pounder in charge of protecting his blindside will be ready to rock in this one.
If anything, Goosby playing is only going to make this blockbuster meeting even more intriguing. Ohio State knows it's going to have its hands full, but that's the way Day likes it. A statement will be made either way, with the Big Ten powerhouse ready to let everyone know they're up for the challenge. Yup, we can't wait for Sept. 12 to get here.
