Kyle Whittingham smiling over Ohio State's Week 2 demise will be handled at The Game

Maybe the only thing that makes Ohio State's crushing loss to Texas in Week 2 even worse is that everyone now has to deal with major troll Dave Portnoy acting like he just won the lottery?

Add in the fact that Kyle Whittingham has now joined Portnoy's circus to take aim at the Buckeyes and it's not fun at all! Matter of fact, it serves as extra motivation for Ohio State to destroy the Wolverines in late November.

When asked about Ohio State totally blowing it against the Longhorns in Austin, Whittingham didn't hold back in calling the comeback by Texas amazing, doing so with a huge smile on his face. While Whittingham was pretty classy with his response while talking with Portnoy, it rightfully won't sit well with Ohio State fans who are still down in the dumps over how things ended.

"I did see the fourth quarter, it surprised me," Whittingham said while Portnoy was laughing at OSU. "Congrats to Sark and his crew. I know Sark pretty well. That was amazing. That comeback was amazing and I didn't see that happening. I thought the game was in the bag after three quarters."

Again, no one is calling out Whittingham for throwing Ohio State under the bus here. His response was classy and no shade was thrown. Having said that, going on Barstool and smiling/laughing himself on camera while Portnoy was trolling the Buckeyes is something that won't be forgotten. It's also something Ryan Day and his players should take note of.

Before last season, Michigan owned a four-game winning streak over Day, which was terrible. In 2025, though, Ohio State made the journey to Ann Arbor and absolutely crushed Michigan. More of the same should be on the way this season, with The Shoe getting ready to host the blockbuster game this time around.

Oh, and before Portnoy keeps bashing OSU, is he going to just forget that Michigan should be 1-1 right now instead of 2-0? The 'Bail Mary' against Western Michigan remains a joke. We'll give them props for taking down Oklahoma, but Bryce Underwood and the offense continue to look average at best. The lackluster play is someting that won't fly in Columbus when taking on Ohio State on Nov. 28.

That game is one Michigan and Ohio State supporters have circled on their calendars. While Whittingham has changed his tune a bit on what this battle means for his program, it's been made clear on multiple occasions that he doesn't fully understand just how much these two teams hate one another. It's easily the biggest and best rivalry in college football.

With him now being besties with Portnoy too, it gives Buckeyes everywhere even more ammo to let Michigan and Whittingham have it for the last regular game of the season. If Michigan thought Ohio State was ticked off for the 27-9 win last year, just wait until what happens this fall. Whittingham can keep hopping on with Portnoy all he wants, but this will all be handled on the field soon enough.
