The Ohio State football program is looking for some help when it comes to the Spring transfer portal. That is clearly the biggest need for them as they head into the summer. That unit did not look very good during the Spring Game, as they failed to get any push.
Ryan Day understands that this unit clearly needs some help. That's what happens when the entire starting defensive line moves on to the NFL. It's a unit that is very key to what Matt Patricia wants to do on the defensive side of the ball, so they have to get some guys who can play well.
The Buckeyes have already reached out to some defensive linemen in the Spring transfer portal window. In fact, they have reached out to one of the top defensive linemen in the portal. Beau Atkinson is someone they are interested in, and he has now set a visit date for Ohio State.
Beau Atkinson will visit the Ohio State football program on Monday
Atkinson has decided to make a visit to Columbus on Monday. Atkinson is also considering Georgia, so the Buckeyes are hoping that they can get him to commit on that visit, which would be ideal. They would be getting someone who has proven that he can rush the passer.
While playing for the Tar Heels this past season, he had 7.5 sacks. That's something that the Buckeyes would love to add to their team. They don't have any proven pass rushers on the roster anymore, now that J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer are headed to the NFL.
The Ohio State Buckeyes need some help, and adding Atkinson is the top priority for them right now. Adding him would be the most impactful move from the transfer portal that Ohio State has made this year.
