The Ohio State football program will once again be led by Julian Sayin this season. After starting for the first time in 2025, Sayin is determined to return better than ever. He was a Heisman Finalist, becoming the latest Ohio State quarterback to be invited to New York.

While Sayin didn't win it, he certainly showed a lot of skills in his first year as a starter. He knows that he has to improve when it comes to scrambling, though. Still. Sayin is a Buckeye through and through. He never entertained the possibility of transferring somewhere else.

Sayin has already transferred once, leaving Alabama once Nick Saban retired. While talking to former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Mark Ingram, he made it clear that he wasn't going to let another program take him away from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Julian Sayin explains why he would never leave the Ohio State football team

While appearing on The Triple Option Podcast, Sayin revealed why he never thought about leaving the Buckeyes in the offseason.

"I think everybody knew I was coming back to school, coming back to Ohio State."

When Ingram pressed if other teams were calling him to try to get him to transfer, Sayin claims that they weren't.

"They weren't calling me, personally. Maybe they were calling other people, but they weren't calling me personally. No, everyone knew I was a Buckeye."

Sayin probably made sure that his NIL agent made it clear that he was not interested in going anywhere else. If things go well, he will only be spending just one more season in college football, anyway. Sayin wants to spend that season with the Buckeyes.

Sayin also sees the talent that Ohio State has on the offensive side of the ball, as well. He understands that throwing the ball to Jeremiah Smith can only help his draft stock. Smith is the best receiver in the country, so he will only help Sayin when it comes to his numbers.

Winning a national championship would also help Sayin when it comes to NFL teams. Winning at the highest level in college football would give him an upper hand when it comes to being a potential first round pick.
