The New York Jets handed the reins of the offense to Justin Fields and a $130 million extension to Garrett Wilson this offseason. Still, Gang Green may have one more major former Ohio State Buckeyes football star to add to the mix: Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin is reportedly "disappointed and frustrated" over a lack of productive contract talks with team brass ,and could be on the move any moment.

CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin believes the Buckeye connection is worth noting as it pertains to Fields and McLaurin possibly teaming up in the Big Apple.

"Like the Raiders, the Jets aren't necessarily angling to contend in 2025 as much as successfully transition to a new culture and regime. They have money to spare, however, with close to $30 million in remaining cap space, plus a relatively dire need for pass-catching weapons opposite Garrett Wilson, who's now locked in with a deal of his own. As a bonus, new quarterback Justin Fields shares an Ohio State background with McLaurin, and Jets passing game coordinator Scott Turner was previously McLaurin's play-caller in Washington," Benjamin wrote.

Adding McLaurin after re-signing Wilson is a clear signal that the new coaching staff has the utmost faith in Fields. Given the glimpses Fields showed at the beginning of the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's understandable they'd feel that way.

Of course, this is the same Fields who couldn't win his starting job back from Russell Wilson, so it's unclear if he's worth this much investment.

The Jets front office may be all in anyway, though, and could be clearing the way for an all-in playoff push with a player with whom the Chicago Bears got 10 wins in 38 tries.

At least if New York is a spectacular dumpster fire again, three former Buckeyes will be getting great opportunities to be fantasy football studs in the process.
