The Ohio State football team has a lot of talented players on the roster. Coming into the season, they had the most talent of any team in the country on paper. Part of the reason for that was how good this team is on the defensive side of the ball. Caleb Downs is one of the best players in the country.

Even though Downs is really good, I don't think he's the best player on the team. I think that title goes to freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith had another good game against Purdue on Saturday, catching six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. His prowess is unbelievable.

In fact, Smith is the most prolific freshman receiver in the history of the Ohio State football program. He now has more catches, more yards, and more touchdowns than any other freshman receiver the Buckeyes have had. He passed Cris Carter today in order to have the most catches as a freshman.

The Ohio State football team has a prolific offense thanks to Jeremiah Smith

The Ohio State football team has an extremely explosive offense. They can score from anywhere on the field. Smith is a big reason for that. He's the best player that the Buckeyes have on offense. No one has more receiving touchdowns than him. He now has nine of them.

Having Smith available for the Buckeyes makes them a ridiculously dangerous team for the rest of the country to deal with. This offense now runs through Smith when the Buckeyes throw the ball. They are still a run-first team, but the passing game is still dangerous.

The fact that Smith is this good as a freshman is insane. He's only going to get better as his career rolls along. When next season comes, he might be one of the best players in the entire country.
