Even a team like Ohio State is not safe from the horrors of the transfer portal. The Buckeyes, even a season away from winning the National Championship, are still getting hit by the portal pretty hard. The latest player to announce his choice to enter the transfer portal is wide receiver Mylan Graham.

Graham, a former five-star wide receiver in the Class of 2024, ended up redshirting his first season with the Buckeyes with the idea that he would have a bigger role in 2025. Well, this season, Graham had just six catches for 93 yards, with the majority of passes going to Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate.

It seems like Graham and Smith must have had a good relationship because when the news of Graham hitting the portal broke, Smith immediately took to social media expressing his sad feelings.

The transfer of Mylan Graham shouldn't be all that suprising

Even though Smith seems pretty sad about Graham choosing to enter the transfer portal, it shouldn't have come as that much of a surprise. Even when both Smith and Tate were out with injuries late in the season, Graham was barely used, and at that point, the writing was on the wall for the young wideout.

Graham has the opportunity to transfer somewhere where he might have a better chance at getting a larger load of targets and catches. Granted, things could have changed in 2026 for Graham with Tate heading to the NFL, but ultimately, he made the decision he felt was best for himself and his career.

This is still a tough loss for Ohio State as it takes away depth the Buckeyes were hoping to rely on in 2026, but head coach Ryan Day will just have to hit the portal himself and find some other players.
